Navigating the Global Flow: NSSPF Dives Deep into Supply Chain Management
By Mary-Jane Onuorah (NSSPF National Volunteer Coordinator)
The Nigerian Student Society Presidents’ Forum UK (NSSPF UK) wrapped up the final full week of September with an insightful and action-packed Friday Night Check-in Call. Held on September 26, 2025, from 8:16 PM to 9:49 PM (London time), the meeting focused on a vital sector often overlooked by students: Supply Chain Management.
A Deep Dive into Global Logistics with Industry Leader John
The evening’s main agenda item was a stimulating discussion led by our guest, John, a seasoned professional in supply chain management. The session was a phenomenal success, starting with a warm round of introductions and quickly moving into a detailed exploration of the industry.
John shared his personal journey, offering an honest look at what it takes to thrive in this globally significant field. The conversation covered:
- Global Significance: Understanding how supply chain operations are the backbone of international trade and commerce.
- Career Pathways: Discussing educational routes and diverse career opportunities available within the logistics, procurement, and distribution space.
- Addressing Challenges: Acknowledging and addressing sensitive challenges within the industry, specifically touching on issues of discrimination and the critical need for greater representation of Nigerian and African professionals in global supply chain leadership roles.
This part of the meeting was highly engaging, providing our members with not just technical knowledge but also practical advice on navigating career hurdles as diaspora professionals.
Gearing Up for the African Union Business and Student Summit
The session concluded with a shift in focus to one of the NSSPF’s major upcoming initiatives: the African Union Business and Student Summit.
This event promises to be a pivotal platform for networking, learning, and advocacy. To ensure our participation is impactful and well-coordinated, the team announced plans for a dedicated brainstorming session. This session will be crucial for:
- Finalizing NSSPF’s specific contributions and roles at the Summit.
- Mapping out our activities and objectives for the coming month of October.
Members are encouraged to keep an eye on the WhatsApp group for the schedule and agenda for this planning session. Let’s bring our best ideas to the table as we prepare to represent the Nigerian student diaspora at this critical event!
