Your Network is Your Net Worth: Highlights from the August 22nd Check-in
On a Friday night that was anything but typical, the Nigerian Student Society Presidents’ Forum (NSSPF) UK gathered on Zoom for a powerful check-in focused on the cornerstone of career growth: networking. The session, held on August 22nd, was a masterclass in building genuine professional relationships and served as a reminder that true connections go far beyond a simple exchange of contact information.
The evening’s spotlight was on a presentation led by Ambassador Mustapha Salami, who guided the group through the art and science of networking and relationship building. It wasn’t a one-way lecture; instead, it was a dynamic, interactive discussion where participants openly shared their own valuable connections and inspiring experiences. This collective wisdom transformed the session into a collaborative learning environment, demonstrating the incredible power of the NSSPF community as a whole.
As the discussion unfolded, the group transitioned to important organisational updates. Members were introduced to an exciting new partnership for food delivery, a tangible benefit of the forum’s growing influence. The conversation also touched upon a series of upcoming events, showcasing a commitment to continued engagement and professional development. Even with a few technical glitches, the group’s focus remained on collaboration, with a discussion on how to improve communication methods to ensure everyone stays connected and informed.
The meeting concluded with a forward-looking discussion on a range of topics that are central to the NSSPF’s mission. Participants exchanged ideas on effective event planning, shared insights on different teaching philosophies, and discussed best practices for maintaining professional relationships. The key takeaway was clear: building a strong, meaningful network isn’t just a career strategy—it’s an essential part of personal and professional growth. The evening left attendees energised and ready to apply these lessons to their own lives.
