Faith, Finance, and Community Impact: NSSPF UK’s Power-Packed October Check-in
By Mary-Jane Onuorah, NSSPF National Volunteer Coordinator
The Nigerian Student Society Presidents’ Forum UK (NSSPF UK) kicked off the second week of October with a dynamic and focused Friday Night Check-in Call, emphasising both spiritual grounding and strategic planning for community engagement. The virtual meeting, held on Friday, October 10th, 2025, showcased the relentless energy and collaborative spirit driving Nigerian student leaders across the UK diaspora.
Fueling the Vision: A Call to Faith
The evening began with powerful spiritual and motivational messages delivered by Ambassador Deborah Adebayo. In a refreshing start, Deborah reminded the student leaders of the importance of following Jesus and standing firm in faith amidst the pressures of academic life and leadership responsibilities. This segment reinforced the NSSPF’s commitment to supporting the holistic well-being,spiritual, mental and professional of its members, ensuring leaders are fortified for the crucial community work ahead.
Strategic Planning: Finance, Volunteering, and Leadership
The core of the discussion centered on finalising the strategy for a critical upcoming program designed to equip student members with practical life skills. The planning sessions covered three key focus areas:
- Community Benefits: Exploring avenues for reciprocal support and networking within the diaspora.
- Volunteering: Strategizing large-scale volunteer mobilisation for both UK-based and Nigerian initiatives.
- Financial Management: Providing essential training on personal finance, budgeting, and responsible resource management of a vital skill set for future leaders.
This strategic pivot reflects the NSSPF UK’s growing mission to provide tangible, long-term developmental resources beyond typical student events.
Celebrating Wins and Documenting Success
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to acknowledging recent successes and preparing for content creation. The team reviewed preparations for the upcoming program recording, ensuring high-quality resources for members who could not attend the live sessions.
A major highlight was the announcement of competition results, particularly recognising Charity for her impressive achievement: she secured prizes including leadership training and various other rewards. This win underscores the Forum’s dedication to identifying and nurturing exceptional talent within its ranks, providing platforms for members to gain certified skills and recognition.
Furthermore, the team celebrated the resounding success of the recent school supply initiative in Nigeria. This successful outreach program exemplified the NSSPF’s ability to coordinate efforts among UK-based students to deliver tangible, positive impact back home.
Gearing Up for the Future: The NSSPF Conference
The final item on the agenda focused on the Forum’s flagship event: the annual conference . Discussions were centered on perfecting the plans for the conference, which promises to be the largest convergence of Nigerian student leaders yet.
A key feature planned for the conference is an engaging game competition. This element aims to blend professional development with social interaction, fostering a sense of camaraderie and fun alongside serious networking and strategic discussions.
The October check-in proved to be a powerful session of both spiritual renewal and actionable planning, positioning the NSSPF UK for a strong finish to the year and a impactful launch into 2026 initiatives.
